Trubo training

Its that time of year when the turbo trainer get dusted off ready the wet cold nights. Not in our house, the thing is set up all year round. I find it one of the best things for just doing a hour or two after work or first thing in the morning. I know some people say its boring but I find you can't just sit there for an hour plodding out the same tempo, you have to be more specific with your training or it will never be used. Check out this web site www.turbotraining.co.uk .There a loads of trainers on the market offering this or that, trust me I have tried most inc. interactive virtual reality. My set up 2 fans to keep cool (it is amazing how you heart rate rises when you get hot)as you have no air circulating around you. A mat on the floor to mop up sweat and cut down on noise (forget the fancy turbo mats there to expensive) 1 x750ml of fluid (electrolyte) for every 1 hour training. Over 1 hr I have a gel or energy bar. Make sure you do at least 8 mins warm up and cool down or you will ache next day.
I have had my Cycleops for a year now and have loved every time  I use it.  The set up on this trainer allows me to use it in the same room when everyone is watching telly it is that quite. Its not cheap but I use it more than any of my bikes so its money well spent and I don't have to spend ages cleaning it every time I use it
There are more turbo trainers out there than you can shake a stick at. They all offer this and that but basically they all the same thing they lift the rear wheel of the ground. You can go for a basic model with resistance on the unit or with a cable to clip on the handle bars to add or reduce resistance. You can even race friends all around the world via the internet.just decided what YOU want from a trainer. You can always pop in for a chat.
