Cheap carbon MEKK road bike

Cheap carbon road bike Avanti

 Here we have a great full carbon road bike from Avanti. The bike has been upgraded to new Miche Action semi deep wheels and Schwalbe Durano tyres. The Cassette has been changed to a 32t. This is a 56cm bike with a 54cm top tube c,t,c. This is a £1400.00 bike originally. We are offering this bike for £1000.00. It is fully equipped with 10sp Shimano Tiagra. We think it is a sweeter set up than the new stuff. Yes it is an older model but more the better for it as it has no internal cable routing which makes it far easier to service. Stronglight osymetric rings

We have been using these great O symetric ring from Stronglight for about a year now and we can only say good things about them. The feeling you get is like riding a fixed as it is smooth over top dead center. We have found you can push a bigger gear faster on the flat but spin easier on the hills. My wife has gone from a compact 34/50 round rings to a 42/52 O symetric and found it just as easy climbing, you just go faster. The hardest thing is going back to standard rings on the winter bikes as you find it harder to push over the dead spot. £200 for a pair of chain rings is not cheap but we think it is a small price to add performance.  Just had a extra sets in for our T.T. bikes cant wait to try.

Powertap P1 pedals

 Were has the time gone? Its almost a year since we added a post on here. Whats new at Schmoos? We painted the shop in a nice orange and grey as my daughter said we need to make the shop look trendy. Seems to have worked as we have had great feed back from our customers. Now I am a great fan of training with a heart rate monitor as I am a bit old fashioned, but having put a Powertap G3 hub on my wifes bike over a year ago I have been converted to power in conjunction with a heart monitor. The problem with a hub is knowing what rim to build it into.Training bike or best bike so I built it with a DT swiss 50mm deep rim so can us for both. Now Powertap have added a set of pedals into the mix. This solves that problem as they are easy to swap from bike to bike. We have had our first drop of pedals in They retail for £999.99. No they're not cheap but if you are serious about getting fitter and faster its the way to go. Coming soon Powertaps C1 chainrings which offer a cheaper power option. Sella italia Mono link review

 Now this is my first review so bear with me. I am not a big fan of reviews as they tend to be a bit biased so were to start? Saddles that suits me won't mean it will be the right one for you so a tests seem daft but here goes. Having quite large thighs and tend to favor a narrow saddles I decided to test  Sella Italia,s monolink saddle.We have two demo/test saddles inc 27.2 & 31.6 seat posts in the store . I am riding a compact frame which has a lot of seat post sticking out offering a bit of extra comfort. In the shop attaching the saddle onto the post and setting up was child's play just a 4 mm allen key. I found the guide they use on the top of the saddle didn't suit me and ended up moving it back for a better fit.
 Now the down side of my test, the seat post. Why bond a alloy tube to a carbon head as this seems to be a weak point and on this one it came loose. You can of course buy a full carbon post. Speaking to the suppliers I was told this is the first time they have heard of this and it would be replaced straight away so hopefully it is a one off. The plus side of this is I spent 90 mins sat permanently on the saddle hoping the top would not pop off which it didn't even after trying to pull it off at the end of my ride. The first thing I found (or didn't ) was no rubbing on the inside of my leg's,as the nose of the saddle is quite narrow, now I have never found this a problem before but this was amazing, Sue my wife also found it great as well and she has slim leg's (I put that in for brownie points) I even found myself spinning a lower gear than normal.
 Monolink what do I think? Its a great idea can't wait to try it out on a longer run when we get that replacement post. As I said it may not suit everyone so you can try before you buy, but you may have to pry this one off me first.

Schmoos frameset

This bike was built for the shop to show off our frames. This is a top end alloy AN6 frame and carbon fork. The colour was done to match our Racing tops and shorts. We can offer our frames in Steel, Alloy or carbon as shown in image below. All road bikes have clearance for proper fitting mudguards.

 Every so often you get a bike that won't sell and you cant understand why. Just check this one out.
