WOW !!!!!! Merida 904 2012 90/100 on test now only £999.99 with 105 got to be the must have bike for next year and now inside the cycle to work scheme. This bike was £1400.00 in 2011. Check out cycle active January issue. BUT if you want a mega bargain we have the 2011 model which is slightly higher spec. than the 2012 model for £900.00. This bike is FULL 105 with shimano wheels and slightly higher spec. on the finishing kit. Bike of the week

This week we have two bikes. First a Merida road race 94 then a road ride 94. They are the same spec. but the road ride is a more of a all day bike with a longer head tube and shallower drop to the bars. The race comes with 23mm tyres where the ride has 25mm. Both use 6066 triple butted frames and are FULLY 105 equipped inc. shimano RS 30 wheel sets. The retail price on the bikes are £1399.99 but our price is £950.00. We only have very ltd stock of each model so don't miss out. These bikes rides fantastic with great attention to detail which is found lacking in a lot of other bikes from so called better brands. If you already have a Merida you know how good these are. Both bikes are on display in the shop. We have had some Barrossa Monaco alloy hybrid bikes from Dawes They retail for £250.00 but we are doing them for £200.00 c/w a quality Light set, lock and bottle/cage. They are good bikes they should last a few years, not the normal rubbish I have seen for the same money. Just sold a lovely Merida O-nine 3000D
Full carbon xt equiped with fox forks

O my gosh its light .This is my customers 3rd Merida mtb. 984 on the plate stuck to the BB is the weight ,as each frame is check and the plate is to confirm to weight.The flat pedals are an add on as comes with white SPds.This frame was voted best carbon hardtail you can get.
The frame has 10mm of travel at the rear end for shock but is stiff at the BB for climbing and response. Go on you know you want one.

What can you say ? .Just got the shop finished and looking nice and someone does this.O well I was not sure about that shade of blue anyway.Plus side we have got some bikes with scratches and marks (mostly ladies hybrids)discounted .Cant say the same for the lovely Look carbon & Massi Carbon that I had just finished building ready to go out, or the 2 Merida Full suss M.T.Bs that were taken .We got them back in less than an hour but they had fallen of the roof of the car in the chase. (I would like to say Thank you to the police for there fantastic service in returning the bikes and the way they helped me with sorting the shop out )We will wait for the loss adjuster to look at them and they will be hopfully repaired and sold at a very reduced price.

Well its done we are now relocated!!!! The new shop is stocked out and looks fab ........ BUT its a bit smaller than our old shop so we have run out of space. We need to get rid of some more stock!!!! I will put some photos on A.S.A.P. WOW !!! Where did April go? I missed that month.

Well what's new? The shop has been rammed with repairs and sales - road bikes and Hybrids flying out like there's no tomorrow.

Just had our first drop of Merida Test bikes. The new Road ride 95 and the 120 travel 800 -D MTB incorporating the new 10sp SLX groupset. Also, coming in next week an evo. 904 carbon road bike and a Matts trail 300-D hard tail so you can now try before you buy.

We are still clearing out stock ready for the big move but its going fast and have 25% off helmets, clothing and accessories.

Can't wait to move as most weekends are spent painting and rubbing down wood work, however, the alarm being fitted now so all systems go - just a few more weeks. Pop in and pick up a bargain while we still have some 2010 bikes - they have got to go before we move.

Schmoos is going down hill !!!!!!! well only in our new stock coming soon, we are getting a full range of full face and BMX helmets and more body protection inc the new D30 from Blue grass (Met). This will be arriving in our new shop, which all being well should be open by the end of this month. Thanks to Kevins input we have gone more into the MTB, freeride, down hill route already selling out of our first batch of Maxxis tyres . We are still stocking a full range of road and hybrid bikes. Now in D.B. BMX grips ,saddles & pedals that change color in the sun . We still have 2010 stock on clearance as we have purchase more of our suppliers end of line bikes and parts. We are super busy on the repair side so please phone to book your bike in we have just had a drop of over 60 bikes for repair from a company so Kev. wont be seeing much sunlight in the next few days.

The sun is out Hurray!!!! and the thought of digging out the bike is growing stronger. We have some old bike stock we still need to clear out so have reduced them further so grab a real bargain. Just had this review sent to us from Germany (not the best translation)

German “TOUR” magazine, Europe’s biggest bike magazine well known for their hard and merciless testing procedure, made a test of the most trendy aero-style road racing bikes.

This new category is getting more and more poplar – famous road-brands as Cervelo with their S3 were setting this trend, other ProTour players, such as Felt (being specialized in aero-concepts), Scott (F01 Project – not available yet) , Kuota (Kult), Canyon (Aeroad), Ridley (Noah) are following with new frames supporting this trend.

Beside the standard testing procedure, as first bike-magazine, “Tour” went to a wind-tunnel at Dresden/Germany to get the answer about the question, if aero-shaped road-frames at regular road-bikes really offer measurable improved results, compared to standard road bikes with round tubes and regular shapes.

Amazing result: at 45 km/h, the saving of an aero-shaped road-bike such as a MERIDA REACTO, compared with a standard road-frame is about 13 Watt less drag (wind-resistance).

Riding with stable 35 km/h average speed about a distance of 45km, the advantage over the traditional shaped frame would be 50 seconds.

At most aero-bikes, the wind-resistance is lower and there is a noticeable speed-improvement compared with standard road-frames. But due to the more narrow and profiled, deep section tubing, these aero-frames are heavier, have less stiffness, less comfort and therefore – lower overall performance than a top-level frame with traditional layout.

Not so the REACTO – it combines all the benefits of a top level, traditional carbon road-frame, such as low weight, precise steering and reserves at high speed descents, power transfer without any loss, topped with the aero-advantage of the new aero-bikes.

The REACTO Team was able to beat top-players, such as Cervelo S 3 in every technical matter.

Only positive reactions to MERIDA’s REACTO: with consequent adjusted colors at all components and drivetrain-parts, it appears as being made real from one piece. As well at the technical side, there is no space for complain. At the wind-tunnel, it accomplishes a reasonable result within the middle of the competitors; at the “Tour”-lab, the frame leads together with Canyons Aeroad.

2^nd place at the total bike ranking, just 0,1 points behind Canyon (which is direct sales and therefore offers higher specs for same price-point) ; Some of the competitors bikes cost almost twice (FELT, Cervelo).

No matter if short or 70.3 distances, if Ironman, Single or Team TT: These bike disciplines represent a no-compromise pursuit of performance – why should the corresponding equipment be different?

Juergen Falke – MERIDA’s Head of Design – is an ambitious triathlete by himself. Therefore, he is always searching new and revolutionary solutions to optimize his material. That’s why Juergen developed the TIME WARP: A competition bike incorporating a professional Triathlon model as well as a genuine TT machine. How is this possible? Thanks to the patent-pending MODULAR HEAD system, the TIME WARP offers individual adjustment of handlebar height and seating position. This means optimal adaption to different bike disciplines, varying distances and the raise of athlete performance level during the season. Of course, always with elegant visual appearance!

MISSION: AERO POSITION

Our MERIDA TIME WARP offers all important features required by a Triathlon bike and, respectively, a high-tech TT machine: Deep-section aero-rims and an aerodynamically optimized frame design are essential for all athletes on an ambitious velocity mission – and, of course, also for MERIDA! The same applies to ultra-lightweight carbon material consisting of high modulus (HM), ultra-high modulus (UHM) and intermediate (IM) fibres. But our TIME WARP performs a lot more high-end tasks than conventional representatives of this bike category: Thanks to the intelligent MODULAR HEAD system, our TIME WARP beats the pants off its competitors in terms of versatility!

With respect to air resistance, the actual athlete is always the biggest interference factor. Therefore, triathletes and TT pilots generally try to “duck” against the headwind as low as possible. However, this extreme aero position can be endured much better over short TT distances than until the end of 180 exhausting Ironman kilometres. Thanks to raising performance level, extreme aero positions also feel decidedly less stressful towards the end of the season than at the beginning in spring. In addition, it’s virtually logical that races with prohibited drafting require bikes with comparatively lower and therefore more uncomfortable front ends. Conventional solution: The position of the (per se low-mounted) handlebar is raised by spacer towers – not only questionable in terms of visual appearance, but primarily with respect to steering stability due to the long “leverage” affecting head tube stiffness. Especially during downhill sections, this means a real safety risk!

SOLUTION: MODULAR HEAD

The MODULAR HEAD represents an intelligent MERIDA solution being not only visually attractive, but also extremely safe: 20 mm and, respectively, 40 mm system attachments allow effective three-step extension (0, +20, +40 mm) of head tube length – but without any spacers! The head tube’s upper bearing cup rises in correspondence with the respective extension while the module utilization even enhances head tube stiffness. Therefore, our TIME WARP offers a perfect position for each individual athlete – in any discipline, on any track, at any time!

Analogously to a desired handlebar position, the seat tube angle can be varied between 75° and 79°. This complements the MODULAR HEAD in form of a perfectly closed system.

HIGHTECH MATERIAL IN ITS MOST BEAUTIFUL SHAPE

As in the case of our high-end MTBs O.NINE and NINETY-SIX, the new REACTO’s centerpiece is a STRUCTURE ELEMENT carbon frame with DOUBLE CHAMBER technology – a.k.a. a vertically integrated reinforcement rib providing improved bending stiffness to the down tube. We keep being asked who are Merida never heard of them before.
Right Merida started making bikes in 1972 for other bike company's, they soon built up a reputation for building some of the best frames on the market. Growing into one of the largest bike company's in the world. They now design and make bikes and frames for some of the Biggest know brands, even owning 49% of one of the biggest American bike company's.They have Possibly the largest R & D house off all bike company's. With there bikes nearly always get top ratings . There Carbon Frames which are designed by themselves but working along the best carbon company's to produce some of the sweetest handling frames out there inc. This guy knows a thing or two about it as he has spent the last 6 years working and fixing bikes at a Trail Centre. I must agree they do look better. Popular brands we are now able to give in-house services to are: Fox, Rock Shoxs, Manitou,Marzocchi & Suntour. Kevin will also repair and service most adjustable seat posts inc Maverick, Crank Brother, Gravity Droppers & KS I Series.
Wheel Builds are a speciality of his and his resume includes World Cup Down Hill Riders notably Rowan Sorrell, and The Welsh National WHEEL CHAIR Rugby Team!
He can also strip and service most Disc Brakes out there and has been known to bleed over 20 brakes during a weekend.

Happy new year to all .Christmas went past all to quick. Time flies by. How long has it been since our last post ? Any way just had in the Winter clothes for this lovely weather we have been having .Its not much warmer in the shop Brrrr.We still have some stuff on our half price rail and we have quite alot of summer stuff to clear out at 25% off.
The new 2011 bike from Merida have been flying in and look stunning but unfortunate there is a price increase that is going through the hole trade of up to 20%. But we have managed to find some 2010 bikes at the old price so still some bargains to be had. Just had the Schmoos drinks bottles in and will be sold for £2.50 each try and get photo on later but they do look good.

Tour Of Britain

The tour has passed through today. We shut up for lunch and headed over to the finish.

Deciding that the trickiest section would be the descent past the police station, thats were we stood. We were rewarded (if thats the right word) with some poor rider sliding on his arse into the barrier in front of us, he didn't seem badly hurt just shaken as he rode off.

It was really good turn out as well considering the horrible weather. Lets hope they come back again next year eh.

Merida Warp 5 TT FrameSet For Sale

We have an ex display Merida Warp 5 frameset for sale for £450 collected or £480 delivered (Parcelforce insured).Is a medium frame so should suit anyone between 5'8" and 5'11"

It comes complete with carbon fork, headset, seatpost and carbon aero cover,brakes and a Ti railed saddle. The bike was on display in the shop for a couple of months and then the groupset was taken off and used for a Carbon TT bike for the boss.

obviously this is a picture of a complete bike but its just to show what the frame looks like, for £450 you only get those parts listed above.

So thats another Tour over with, Contador in yellow (or is yellow if you go by some of the forums postings I've read). I think people are a being a little harsh on him really, his determination to win at all costs seems to rub people up the wrong way though.

Bit of a let down for Wiggins and co though, we had high hopes for the Sky team, maybe next year.

Julians Time Warp carbon TT bike is finished, its got some really nice detailling on it such as matching green cables and some super deep carbon rims. It's suprisingly light for a TT bike at 20lb 1oz including pedals. Quite what happens if he doesn't win his next time trial by a huge margin I have no idea. Don't ask how much we are too scared to add it up.

Puncture Repair Kit

Along with a pump and a spare tube everyone should carry a puncture repair kit. Replace your punctured tube with the new one and then repair the other, that way you will always have a spare and you'll be saving the planet (well not really, but any recycling helps doesn't it?)

Rigid 26" Steel Fork

We've had a few people asking for a rigid fork for their MTB that they are using for commuting. The choices seem to be either cheap steel forks with V-Mount only or silly expensive carbon ones for £150 upwards.

We were asked yesterday for a tidy pair of disc compatible rigid forks for touring use. Having a search around for a reasonably priced option I stumbled upon these from Salsa Cycles

Only £69.99, they are suspension corrected at 445mm long, disc only 1"1/8th steerer. The dropouts are engraved with Salsa on the outside and Ride&Smile on the inside.

These really cant be beat if you are converting your MTB to touring or commuting duties. Only available to special order, let us know if you want a set and we'll get a pair in for you

Wimbledon fizzled out then :(

Tour started, 2 riders in the top ten in the prologue (and a welsh lad at that) so a good start, lets hope its not all down hill from there.

Sundays stage threw a few crashes into the mix to keep us interested. Hopefully they'll settle down a bit and not fall over quite as much (look out for dogs though)

Football? not as we know it

Lets get it over with then, the football was a shambles, England should think themselves lucky that Germany knocked them out as if they had met Argentina in the next round the would have suffered an even worse defeat. Disallowed goal or not they were never in the game. There that's that done with. Wimbledon is looking good for Andy Murray, the cricket is going well, the rugby is a mixed bag but better than last week. Formula 1 has a couple of Brits doing rather well. Cycling gets on the big stage on Sunday so lets see what Team Sky can do to restore some pride in British Sport.

If you bothered about these things all the stickers are removable for that clean look. Gearing is 48x16 (fixed or free), 28c tyres, 170mm cranks, deep drop brakes for mudguard clearance (we have white guards to keep the theme) if you plan on riding in winter.

Its a bargain for a complete and will make a great starter fixie ripe for little upgrades here and there.

Right then, England have made it to the last 16, whats the chances of them putting one over the Germans? They looked impressive against Australia(or did Australia play poorly?) but losing to Serbia and only getting one past Ghana hasn't raised hopes at home. Wimbledon has been good so far (unless your any British player other than Andy Murray).

Team Sky have announced their squad for the Tour here with Geraint Thomas in the squad carrying the flag for Wales :)

Wimbledon, football, rugby and cycling

Well its an sport packed summer so far, the football is picking up momentum (for some teams anyway), Wimbledon has started, the rugby tours are underway (some with startling predictability) and the Tour is less than a fortnight away (will it be a moped race this year , see here )

Been quiet hasn't it?

Its been quiet around these parts, mostly to do with the fact that I had Kidney stones so I haven't been posting (or to work even). Still I'm back now so more rubbish from me.

We built one of these on Monday :-

It's even nicer in the flesh. Remote lockout for the shock and an easy to reach lockout for the fork should make it a demon race bike.

Also in stock at the moment is a second hand Dawes Super Galaxy converted to flat bars, only £250 , pics will be posted later (once I get round to taking some)

XC Race at Margam Park May Bank Holiday

Anyway, this bank holiday weekend its the Big Welsh Weekend with round 3 of the British Mountain Bike Series.The weekend starts for the racers on the 28th, over the weekend there's demo rides on the saturday and sunday from Merida where you'll be able to test the Carbon Ninety Six 3000d and its hardtail sibling. Theres a range of 120mm and 140mm travel full suspension bikes to try as well so there should be something for everyone.

Theres loads of events on including short track races, junior races, marathon race for the nutters. and live music on saturday evening. It promised to be a great weekend for all the family.

Fixies and stuff

Right then, this week we have some fixie stuff in the shape of the Claud Butler Courier

It's not a name you'd normally associate with fixed wheel bikes but its a pretty good deal at £309 (if you mention you saw it on this blog then you'll get 10% off that price).
It's a full CroMo frame with a radial laced white front wheel. All the stickers are removable for that stealth look. We have only the one left in stock but I'm sure we can order some more. There will also be a drop bar version available in white for a little more cash at £319, not sure when we will have them though.

Alfine build

We converted a rather nice Orange P7 to an even nicer orange P7 with Alfine hub.The job was made a lot easier by the P7 having sliding dropouts, this makes it look a lot neater and removes the need for the ugly chain tensioner.

Merida have been kind enough to send us a Time Warp TT bike for Julian to try out. No excuses for not posting a personal best with this.

Ours isn't exactly the same spec (although the frame and fork is) Call in for a look.

It's got some interesting features as well such as the adjustable top-tube (that large green section on the top tube can be replaced with a shorter one) giving a 40mm adjustment of top tube length.

So the rules have been changed and planes are flying again .

Summer seems to be hanging around a bit (hope it lasts).Good to see the clothing re-arrange in the shop didn't change the weather anyway :)

What the hell is that in the sky? Its only the Sun , and it seems to be making an extended appearance. Quite how long this will last is anybody's guess but lets make the most of it.

As soon as it appeared we cleared the shop of mudguards,waterproof jackets and winter clothing and started putting shorts, short sleeve tops and sunglasses on display.

If it rains its not my fault :)

Congratulations to Sam Pilgrim, winning the Vienna Air King on his Diamondback.

Well done also to locals Danny Pace (Identiti) and Adam Williams (NS Bikes) who flew out to ride the competition.

We've secured status as a Look Official Dealer.

We have had into stock a 585, 585 Optimum and a 566 framesets. All come with fork, bag and custom cable kit (566 comes with red cable to match the red detail on the frame)

Both the 585 and the 585 Optimum come with headset and carbon seatpost.

First up a Norco DH, 9" travel,Boxxer Races and an all in weight of 39lb14oz (with standard kit-it could easily loose a pound or two when upgrade time comes)

It's nearly here ! 28th March 1.00am the clocks shuffle forward heralding the start of Summer. Whether we will notice is another matter altogether. Not heard any of the forecast "experts" claiming a barbecue summer but the first one who is will be very brave after last year.

Right then dont say too much in case we curse it. It looks like spring is on the way, its still cold but its mostly dry, the lambs are appearing and there are buds in forest :)

As its getting lighter some people are taking their lights off their bikes, keep them on for a bit longer as you never know when your going to get caught out (maybe a puncture on the way home from work). To this end we are doing this light set :-

For only £7.49 , thats half the RRP of £14.99 and they inlcude batteries (i'd recommend getting some rechargables though)

The sun is shining (at the moment) and the trees are budding so spring must be on the way, hopefully it will get warmer as well (and probably wetter)

If you ride DH then keep an eye out on Kilvey Hill for some developments regarding a club.
Also I'll be attending a meeting regarding the Clyne Valley cross country cycle track so if anything interesting is said i'll most likely post it on here.
